MEMBERSHIP:
In applying for membership in the Studio, every applicant shall agree to follow the Studio
“Rules,  Regulations and Guidelines”, as well as the Clay Studio “ByLaws”.
Admission to the Studio shall be limited to GVR members in good standing.  New applicants
must first take  an “Introduction” class thru GVR.  (*See “New Member Policy”)

CLAY, PAINTS/GLAZES AND TOOLS:
Any clay or glaze used by a Studio member, must be Studio issued or have been
    approved by the Board.

All stocked paints, tools and usual supplies can be purchased from the Studio at prices
determined by the Board.  (*See “ByLaws”)

WORK IN PROGRESS:
DO NOT REMOVE DRYING RACKS OR BOARDS FROM THE STUDIO.  Identify your piece
with your name or personal logo.  NO PIECE WILL BE FIRED WITHOUT THIS.  Also label the
drying board with your name, and date the board is put on the shelf to rest or  dry.  Use
masking tape.  Place your piece on shelf appropriate to the size, leave tall shelves for
tall pieces.  Remove tape when finished using the board, and return the board to the proper
storage area.  Do not place pieces to dry at the front or back entrances.  Exterior work drying
space is provided on the North Patio.

Glazing is to be done only on the formica top tables provided in the glaze area.  This includes
undercoats, topcoats, oxides and paint.  Always protect the surface with newspaper prior to
    beginning.

DO NOT wash clay scraps down the sink drains, it clogs the pipes.   Place excess scraps in
    the trash baskets.

SANDING:
NO DRY SANDING IS ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO.  Sanding may be done on the north patio
area in space  provided, or taken home.  Damp (leatherhard) sanding is permitted.

FIRING:
Prepaid firing charges apply to bisque, low-fire, high-fire and raku firings at rates determined
by the Board. Low and high fire glazes are provided by the Studio and glaze firing pays  the
Studio’s cost for the  purchase of these glazes.  Therefore, all Studio glazes used by
the members must be paid for at the posted “glaze firing” rate even if they are not
fired in the Studio.   (*See “Glaze Guidelines”)

ALL GLAZED PIECES MUST HAVE A SHARD UNDER THEM OF THE SAME WIDTH AS THE
    PIECE WHEN MEASURED.

Under-glazes on greenware will be charged at bisque rate.

RAKU FIRED PIECES ARE LIMITED TO 5 LBS.

All pieces must have a color code firing slip from the Monitor.  Carry your own piece
to be measured and to the proper firing shelf.

In the busy season, any piece left in the holding room for more than two weeks after
it has been fired, will be removed and placed in  an unsecured location in the Raku
area.  Then, after 30 days, unidentified/unclaimed pieces will be considered
abandoned and may be used for a donation or discarded.  If illness or an emergency
arises and you cannot claim your piece, notify a Studio Monitor.

CLEAN UP:
Clean each piece of equipment you have used to complete your masterpiece.  Wipe the work
table with a clean wet sponge, then dry with a paper towel.  DO NOT SWEEP OR BRUSH DRY
CLAY.  Cleaning tools (brushes, rags, etc.) are provided for your use to keep the Studio
    clean.  Rinse sponges after using.

When glazing, cover the designated formica table with newspaper, and please wipe bottle lid
and rim, and replace it in the correct place on the shelf.  (*See Glaze Guidelines)

WORK/STORAGE SPACE:
CLAY MUST BE IDENTIFIED WITH THE OWNER’S NAME AND MAY BE LEFT IN THE
STUDIO, STORED UNDER THE TABLES OR DESIGNATED SHELVES.  BECAUSE OF LACK
OF STORAGE SPACE, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT MUST BE TAKEN HOME.

Storage space at the tables is for the use of active members.   When a member is not
using the Studio on a regular schedule, the member is requested to take clay home.

All Studio work space and equipment shall be available on a first come first use basis, except
